Tax Assistance

Taxes are completed in partnership with the Northwest Michigan Community Action Agency.

The window for assistance usually begins in February until around April 10. Dates will be advertised on our Calendar on this site, along with our Facebook page, and in our monthly newsletter, The Chatterbox. 

Procedures

  • You will need to come to the COA office to pick up a tax packet. It will include a list of all the paperwork you will need to complete you taxes. 
  • You will return to the office with with the neccessary papers and offiuce staff with make a copy of everything. You will leave with your original documents. 
  • Our office will forward your documents to the progam volunteer. When your return is complete, the volunteer will call you that your return is ready for submission.
  • You will return to our office where you will sign a document then you receive an envelope with all your documents. 
  • The program volunteer submits your return electronically. 

Please note that the IRS issues all refunds through direct deposit now.
